Repairing a mansard roof
Quite popular in the 1970s, mansard roofs are today the cause of many problems. Indeed, mansard roofs have no cornice, and thus no air entry. The resulting ice barriers in winter cause water infiltrations and the excessive heat in summer causes premature shingle wear-and-tear. To rectify this situation, Les Entreprises J.M.Simard have special soffits manufactured, in the form of a four inch extension with an air intake. This specially made soffit is essential for the good functionning of the attic ventilation.
Starting point: we create an opening between the roof and the mansard.
Second step: the opening provides an access to the attic.
Final product.
